About this report G4-18
A structured identification process of the material topics was carried out for this publication
The 2014 inpEV Sustainability Report consolidates inpEV's performance regarding economic, environmental and social aspects along the year. This publication follows version G4 of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, main global reference for sustainability reporting.
In a continuous communication evolution process with its strategic audiences, the Institute has taken another step to improve the report and, in 2014, conducted a materiality process involving different audiences to define the topics to be reported. The identification of topics more relevant to sustainability communication and management used two sets of documents and perceptions as a basis.
The internal pillar, relative to inpEV itself, included:
- analysis of notes sent to communication media;
- online consultations with collaborators and members (totaling 51);
- interviews with specialized professionals;
- a session with management areas of the sustainability report to identify the characteristics of inpEV's relationship with stakeholders and the impacts of the Institute's actions;
- a session with a focal group formed by representatives from the Administrative and Financial area, Sustainability, Operations, Final Disposal, Logistics and Legal.
For the external pillar, information and perceptions were collected by means of the analysis of sector studies and reference documents on sustainability in the crop protection sector and interviews with subject-matter specialists.
The topics considered as more relevant for both pillars were transformed into a list, which then underwent a validation and prioritizing phase done by the Institute's senior management, which included grouping topics into some areas to ensure that the final list would reflect the important points for management and communication (see table).
According to the GRI methodology, the identified material topics were crosschecked versus the sustainability aspects covered by report guidelines, and performance indicators were selected for each GRI aspect. The chosen option for the report was Essential, which means to report at least one indicator for each methodology aspect considered relevant based on the materiality process done to elaborate this publication. The considered GRI aspects and corresponding indicators can be found in the GRI Summary .
